Format

The tournament will be run monthly and organized in brackets for Round 1.  Each bracket will play a complete internal round-robin with 11 point matches.  The target size will be 8 players per bracket but this may vary depending on entries

Round 1 runs from the 1st to the second last day of each month.  All match results are due on or before the second last day of the month.  Late postings may be accepted if prior agreement has been reached with the host.  Our target date is to post playoff brackets by the 1st, but this date is not guaranteed. The playoffs will run concurrently with Round 1 of the next event.

The four highest-ranked players in each bracket will advance to the playoffs. If there are more than 24 players then there will be 4 brackets and the top 2 players in each bracket will advance to the playoffs.

Bracket assignments for Round 1 will be random. Playoff assignments will be via the standard arrangement (e.g the top 2 finalists will be placed at the extreme ends of the playoff tree).

Entry

To register you must have a valid Warp Gammon name and have received an invitation from the host. New Warp Gammon players can sign up here. Registration is then via the signup link for Saturday Night Gammon on MyPage

Players interested may contact the tournament host Daniel (PRO_Higgy_1216).

Return Entry Players must enter each month.  Signups will normally open after late signups for the current season have closed, and close at midnight Pacific Time on the last day of the month.    It is the player's responsibility to sign up before signups close. Late entries can only be assigned to the players entitled level if space is available.
Scoring Scoring for the purpose of determing bracket winners and promotions will be allocated as follows:

A win will have a value of 3
A forfeit win will have a value of 2
A played loss will be worth 1
A No Result (both players tried but it did not happen) will be worth 0
A forfeit loss will be worth 0
Tie Breaking

Ranks will be based on scores obtained.  Ties will be broken as follows:
1. Head to head among tied players
2. If some players remain tied, head to head among those players.
3. Second level tie breaking.
4. Third level tie breaking.

Match Lengths
Round Robin 11 points
Quarter finals 15 points
Semi-finals Best 2 of 3, 11 point matches
Consolation Finals (3rd Place Match) 15 points
Finals Best 2 of 3, 13 point matches
Scheduling
your Matches
Please ensure that your normal scheduling times are in your profile, as well as the servers you play on. This is an invaluable aid to scheduling.

Online link up with players is encouraged but if you have not been able to play a match by the middle of the month then you should start a scheduling correspondence to arrange a time and location.

If you have sent 2 emails to your opponent without response then it is considered that you have done enough. Contact the host if you feel you need extra assistance in arranging a match.

Forfeits Players do not need to apply for forfeits, they will be granted automatically at month's end based upon scheduling emails. Emails sent in the last 2 days will be ignored unless they are part of a continuing communication between players. You cannot expect a forfeit win if your first email is sent less than 2 days from the end of play regardless of whether your opponent has scheduled or not.

Players who have made insufficient effort to play all their matches may be refused entry to the next month's event.

Players are subject to penalties for failing to complete or attempt to complete matches. In general, players who receive forfeit losses on more than half their matches will be prohibited from play in the following month.  Penalty points are cumulative and will be removed at the rate of 25% per month.  For a complete explanation of penalty points follow this link.

Tournament Staff The Saturday Night Gammon Host is Daniel (PRO_Higgy_1216)

In the event of imperfections in tournament procedure (such as forfeits, withdrawals, inadequate time to play tiebreakers, frozen matches, etc.) the host may take such steps as are necessary to preserve the competitive integrity of the tournament.

In the event of any disputed ruling by the host, the decision will be referred to an impartial person or committee whose objectivity is agreed to by all concerned parties.

General Web-based
Tournament Rules
All rules pertaining to conduct of web-based tournaments will be as provided in the Warp Gammon Web-based Tournament rules.  Players should pay particular attention to policies regarding scheduling.  Players who do not make a sufficient effort to schedule and play matches risk disqualification and suspension.  Players who do not have enough time and flexibility to schedule and play 11 matches during the month at times convenient to opponents in all time zones are advised not to register.
