Entry

To register you must have a valid Warp Gammon name. New players can sign up here. Registration is then via the signup link for Quantum Leap on MyPage

You are expected to complete all of your matches. If you do not play all your matches, you may be excluded from future web-based WarpGammon Tournaments.

Unless specifically stated otherwise elsewhere in WarpGammon Tournament's rules, you may enter the tournament using only one player name.  If you enter more than once, you may be disqualified from the WarpGammon Tournament.

Format

The League will be organized in divisions.  Each division will play a complete internal round-robin.  There will be one top level bracket (Kings), two Level 2 brackets (Lords) , four Level 3 brackets (Peasants), and as many Level 4 brackets (Serfs) as are necessary.  The target size per division will be 12 players.  Entry may be limited if necessary for an appropriate movement.

Each League session runs from the 1st to the second last day of each month.  All match results are due on or before the second last day of the month.  Late postings may be accepted if prior agreement has been reached with the host.  Our target date is to post brackets by the 1st, but this date is not guaranteed.

The two highest-ranked players in each subdivision will move up. The number of players moving down is set equal to the number of players moving up. If the number of players in a division exceeds 12 an extra player is demoted for each additional place. If there are available places in higher divisions due to non-returning players they will be filled by the highest rank players in the division below who have not been automatically promoted.

Scoring Forfeits for the purpose of determing division winners and promotions will be allocated as follows:

A win will have a value of 1
A forfeit win will have a value of 0.6

A played loss will be worth 0.3
A forfeit loss will be worth 0.
Tie Breaking

Ranks will be based on scores obtained.  Ties will be broken as follows:
1. Head to head among tied players
2. If some players remain tied, head to head among those players.
3. Second level tie breaking.
4. Third level tie breaking.

If the Kings bracket champion is not broken by #1-3, a playoff will be held.

Match lengths
Kings 11 points
Lords, Peasants 9 points
Serfs 7 points

Subgroup assignments within a level will be assigned at random.

Return Entry Players must enter each month.  Signups will normally open after late signups for the current season have closed, and close at midnight Pacific Time on the last day of the month.    It is the player's responsibility to sign up before signups close. Late entries can only be assigned to the players entitled level if space is available.
"Vacation" Rule We have a fairly informal approach to players wishing to take time off and return.  Players who withdraw may re-enter up to one time per 12 months and be placed in the division they would have been had they continued.  In such cases, we will allow at most one returnee per division (or subdivision) per month.  It is the players' responsibility to tell us what division they should be assigned to by placing a comment in the signup form, giving us the last month they played and the division they were in.  If more than one player per division wants to return, they will be taken back in "last out-first in" order.  Additional players may be entered in lower divisions.
Clan Rule Members belonging to the same clan must schedule to play their matches in the first ten days.
General Web-based Tournament Rules All rules pertaining to conduct of web-based tournaments will be as provided in the Warp Gammon Web-based Tournament rules.  Players should pay particular attention to policies regarding scheduling.  Players who do not make a sufficient effort to schedule and play matches risk disqualification and suspension.  Players who do not have enough time and flexibility to schedule and play 11 matches during the month at times convenient to opponents in all time zones are advised not to register.

As general guidelines, a player will be required to play at his opponent's convenience if s/he fails to reply to the initial scheduling email within 7 days, but no earlier than the 15th of the month.  Players will be entitled to presumptive forfeits if their opponent does not reply constructively by the latest of the following: 15th of the month, 10 days after first scheduling email (with no response), 3 days after second scheduling email (with no response).  Players do not need to apply for forfeits, they will be granted automatically at month's end.

The host may adjust bracket assignments if doing so is in the best interests of the event.  Players are subject to penalties for failing to complete or attempt to complete matches, including probation, suspension, and demotion.  Actions resulting in forfeits which determine promotion, demotion, or division winners, will be considered much more serious than other types of forfeits.  Players may be denied entry for failure to complete matches in this or any other Warp Gammon web-based event.

In general, players who fail to complete 2-3 matches during a month (i.e. forfeit losses or no results) will receive one penalty point, and those who fail to complete 4 or more matches will receive two penalty points.  Penalty points will be removed at the rate of 10% per month.  Players with at least 1.5 penalty points will be denied entry.

Please read now this additional information on what is expected of players in scheduling at this link: scheduling standards.

Tournament Staff The Warp Gammon Quantum Tournament Host is cindybel   The Director of Warp Gammon is Steve Mongeon.
